India, Jan. 1 -- The Samajwadi Party emerged as the single largest party in Uttar Pradesh and the third largest nationwide in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. It remains to be seen whether Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav can maintain the winning tempo in the 2027 assembly election. He faces the daunting task of countering the BJP's election machine that has notched up victories in four state assembly elections after the Lok Sabha polls. Yadav experimented with the PDA formula, pre-poll alliances and new strategies over the years. Now, 2026 holds a big challenge for the SP as BJP is working on a fresh strategy for a third term. The SP will have to maintain its grip on the PDA and rework the electoral alliance formula with the Congress that is aiming at a comeback in the state politics. If the SP wins panchayat election and assembly by-polls in 2026, it will boost the morale of the SP cadre before 2027....
