Meerut, Sept. 25 -- Uttar Pradesh's minister of state (independent charge) Kapil Dev Agarwal took a dig at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, accusing him of failing to stand firmly with senior party leader Azam Khan. Speaking to reporters, Agarwal pointed out that Azam Khan had to spend 23 months behind bars while 180 cases against him remain pending in court. He alleged that despite this, Akhilesh Yadav did not make any substantial efforts for Khan's cause. "If Akhilesh feared bias from the government, police, or judiciary, he should have taken to the streets and launched an agitation. This is why resentment towards him is growing in the Muslim community," Agarwal remarked. On another issue, the minister welcomed the VHP's recent decision in Maharashtra to prohibit the entry of Muslims into Garba events.
