Lucknow, June 10 -- Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday targeted the state government over the alleged suicide of the father of a rape accused in Kaushambi district earlier this month. He said an internal conflict was underway between two deputy chief ministers in the state over the incidents that took place after the alleged rape. Speaking to media persons at a private function here, the SP chief said, "Atrocities are at an all-time high. Police officers were beaten up on the road due to the failure of the administration. Nobody knows what kind of struggle is going on between the deputy CMs of the state. The incidents in Kaushambi are a result of a tussle between them." In Kaushambi, one Siddharth Tiwari was accused of raping a girl from Lohanda village on May 28. A case was filed against Siddharth. About a week later, Rambabu, the accused's father, allegedly committed suicide. In this case, five people were booked and two people were arrested, including the father of the rape survivor. Responding to Akhilesh's statements, deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya wrote on X, "For us, there is no upper caste, backward caste, or Dalit - whoever breaks the law will be punished. If police make a mistake, action will be taken against them too. "Akhilesh Yadav ji, you repeatedly want to do politics by dividing the society into castes, so that you can save your vote bank. The basis of your politics is casteist provocation and false sympathy. But now the people of UP have woken up. They understand the tactics of the SP...," wrote the deputy CM.HTC...
