Akhadas to give 2027 Ardh Kumbh collection for disaster relief
Haridwar, Sept. 16 -- Akhadas associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad have announced donating the grant provided during the Ardh Kumbh fair 2027 by the state government for disaster affected regions of the state.
The move was announced by Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, general secretary Mahant Hari Giri Maharaj, at Niranjani Akhada on Monday.
"Saint community and Akhadas in particular are quite concerned with several incidents of natural disaster in Uttarakhand and other parts of the country. Akhadas will donate the grant which will be provided to us during Ardh Kumbh-2027 by the state to the disaster affected people of Uttarakhand," said Akhada Parishad general secretary Hari Giri Maharaj. Elaborating on the support that they would provide for disaster relief, Hari Giri Maharaj further said that recently a meeting was held with all 13 Akhada representatives in which a discussion on Ardh-Kumbh 2027 to be held in Haridwar was also done. "As Shradh Paksh is going on, saints haven't finalised dates of Amrit, formerly known as the Shahi Snaan (royal bath) for Haridwar 2027 Ardh Kumbh," he said. Regarding Peshwayi, Hari Giri said that there is no such tradition during the Ardh Kumbh, so most of the saints were of the opinion that age-old traditions should not be changed....
