LUCKNOW, Sept. 22 -- Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai said that Monday (September 22) would be celebrated as the "Gabbar Singh Tax Rollback Day" when the revised GST structure comes into effect. Criticising the BJP-led government, he said it was ridiculous for them to celebrate the withdrawal of their own failed policy. He credited Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the rollback of the five-slab GST. "On the eve of the implementation of the GST reforms, the Prime Minister, in his address to the nation, patted his own back and that of the government for withdrawing the eight-year-long anti-people loot of high GST rates," Rai said in a press statement issued on Sunday, adding, "The real credit for this goes to leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi, who has been fighting relentlessly for the past eight years. The government finally scrapped the five-slab 'Gabbar Singh Tax' rate structure, replacing it with a two-slab system effective from September 22."...
