Agra, Dec. 31 -- Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city area of Agra on December 31 and January 1 as part of traffic restrictions for New Year celebrations. The Agra police have drafted a special traffic plan and withdrawn the earlier relaxation for heavy vehicles during night hours on the intervening night of the New Year.The traffic police of Agra Police Commissionerate issued an advisory stating that route diversions will remain in force on both days. Citizens have been urged to cooperate and strictly follow the traffic plan to ensure smooth movement and public safety. Earlier this month, anticipating large crowds in the Taj city on New Year's Eve, the police said special focus would be placed on compliance with traffic rules and liquor consumption norms to prevent antisocial activities and maintain law and order.Deputy commissioner of police (City) Syed Ali Abbas also appealed to residents to comply with Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), imposed as a precautionary measure. He said hotels and restaurants without valid licences will not be allowed to serve liquor, parking must be arranged within premises and not on roads, and celebratory firing is strictly prohibited.
