Kanpur, March 24 -- A woman died and 36 others, mostly from Lucknow, were injured when a sleeper bus carrying the employees of a company back from a seminar in Delhi, overturned after hitting a concrete divider on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Bangarmau, Unnao, on Monday. The accident occurred around 6.30 am near village Haibatpur in Bangarmau area of Unnao district. Police said the driver dozed off at the wheel, causing the mishap. The impact was so severe that it broke off the front wheels from the chassis. The dead woman was identified as Tarawati, 55, wife of Tribhuvan, a resident of Gosaiganj, Lucknow. She was declared dead at a Bangarmau hospital. Thirty-six passengers were treated at the hospital before being referred to higher medical facilities. Five of them, Madhu, Sharad Verma, Anshika, Praveen Kumar and Omkar, are said to be critical. The bus had left Delhi for Lucknow on Sunday.
