AGRA, May 3 -- In a shocking incident, a jeweller was shot dead in broad daylight near his shop close to Kargil crossing, within Sikandra police station limits of Agra on Friday. As per the information, the assailants entered the shop, held the sales girl on gunpoint, and looted jewellery. However, while fleeing, they encountered the shop owner and shot him dead before escaping the scene. Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Agra City, Sonam Kumar stated that police have collected CCTV footage and other available evidence. All angles are being investigated to determine whether the incident was a robbery or if assailants had a personal motive against the shop owner. The body has been sent for postmortem, he added. The incident occurred in broad daylight near the busy Kargil crossing in Agra. The deceased, identified as 60-year-old Yogesh Chaudhary, was on his way to his shop when he encountered the accused exiting the premises after committing the robbery. The two accused, who arrived on a motorcycle with faces covered, entered the shop and asked the salesgirl about owner's whereabouts. It is believed that as they were fleeing after committing robbery, the owner Yogesh Chaudhary appeared and tried to stop them. Caught off guard, the assailants opened fire, fatally shooting him.
