LUCKNOW, Dec. 10 -- After weeks of traffic chaos and rising public frustration, Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has finally begun repair work on the road cave-in at Tedhi Pulia, first reported on September 27, 2025. The collapse, which blocked movement around the busy market area, was linked to sewer-pipeline strengthening work commissioned by the Jal Nigam. Residents criticised the delay in action, while officials cited procedural hurdles. The Jalkal department needed permissions from the traffic department and the public works department (PWD) for road-cutting and traffic diversion. The sequential inter-departmental approvals reportedly slowed the restoration process. Officials said the pipeline had been blocked for nearly four months, and a leak eventually weakened the surface, causing the road to give way. Speaking on-site, Suez project director Rajesh Mathpal said repair operations are now underway with strict safety measures. "The pothole is significantly deep, and our team is using full safety gear and machinery. We are working around the clock and expect to complete the repairs at the earliest so that normal traffic can resume," he stated....
