Dehradun, Dec. 8 -- The special task force (STF) of the state police arrested a man from Mohali in Punjab for allegedly raping a girl in Haridwar in 2024, police said on Sunday. The accused had been absconding since then with a reward of Rs.25,000 on his head. Senior superintendent of police special task force Navneet Singh Bhullar said the accused was on the run for nearly two years since the registration of the FIR in 2024. The FIR was registered against the accused under 376(3) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 3/4(2) of the Protection Of Children against Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, at Ranipur police station. "The accused who worked as an e-rickshaw operator in Ranipur police station area abducted the 9th-grade minor girl on her way to school and subsequently raped her. The accused remained on the run after the incident. Our team recently received a tip that the accused was working at a scrap yard in Punjab. He was arrested from the Balongi area, where he was hiding," the SSP said....
