After nightclub, fire breaks out in Goa capital's cultural venue
Panaji, Dec. 9 -- A fire broke out at Kala Academy, an iconic cultural venue in Goa's capital, Panaji on Monday, officials familiar with the matter said.
The incident took place at the Darya Sangam complex while preparations for the Serendipity Festival for the Arts were underway, they said. The academy staff swiftly came into action and the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes.
According to fire officials, the blaze began as a result of welding sparks that fell on combustible material that quickly spread engulfing a section that was being readied for the festival due to commence on December 12.
The fire struck a temporary stage that was being set up using plywood and a metal framework. The incident occurred two days after a massive fire broke out at a nightclub in Goa, claiming 25 lives....
