VARANASI, Dec. 4 -- A routine walk for a tea break turned fatal in Azamgarh's Phulpur on Wednesday when a bank guard, crossing the road, collided with a motorcyclist, causing his gun to fire and killing one person while injuring another, police said. According to police, guard Ajay Singh was stationed at the Union Bank ATM near Nagar Panchayat. Around 3 pm, as he crossed the road, a young motorcyclist collided with him. The impact caused Singh's gun to slip from his grip and fire, hitting the two unsuspecting bystanders. The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Chauhan, 27, while the injured is Lavkush Chauhan, 40. Both were initially admitted to the community health centre, Phulpur, and later shifted to Sadar Hospital, Azamgarh. Sanjay succumbed to his injuries, whereas Lavkush is now out of danger, said additional superintendent of police (rural) Chirag Jain. The guard has been taken into custody along with his weapon.
