Afghanistan foreign minister to visit Taj Mahal today
Agra, Oct. 12 -- Afghanistan's foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is scheduled to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra on Sunday. He will travel by an eco-friendly vehicle from Shilpgram, located a kilometre east of the monument, and is expected to return to Delhi the same day after having lunch at a hotel in Agra.
Agra's ADM (protocol) has released the programme, with instructions to ensure adequate security and arrangements for the smooth visit of the VIP guest from Afghanistan. Senior conservation assistant of the Archaeological Survey of India, Prince Vajpayee, stated, "All standard protocol compliance will be ensured, but the Taj Mahal will remain open for public viewing during the visit of the Afghanistan foreign minister."
It may be noted that the Taj Mahal is closed to the public only during visits by heads of state from other countries.
