Advocates protest eviction, pasting of notices
PRAYAGRAJ, June 10 -- Advocates of the high court and district court protested outside the office of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation on Monday. They were upset over the removal of chairs and tables from the road in front of Allahabad high court besides pasting of notices on illegal chambers built on the road side in front of Collectorate.
The lawyers met the additional municipal commissioner, Dipendra Yadav, and expressed their resentment. They termed the action taken by the PMC as illegal and demanded alternative seating arrangements. They also requested to build chambers on the vacant land in the sub-centre complex behind the district court. Yadav assured to discuss their demands with higher officials.
Before removing tables and chairs of advocates outside Allahabad high court during a special drive late on Sunday night, the PMC had pasted notices on more than 125 chambers built illegally in front of the Collectorate by advocates besides had issued an ultimatum to remove the structure within a week. The drive which commenced at midnight, continued till 4 am. After removing encroachments, the entire road was cleaned by the PMC staff....
