LUCKNOW, Feb. 3 -- Extending its interim order passed earlier, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Monday directed the state basic education department authorities that no further proceedings shall be undertaken by them till February 17 in the matter of adjustment/transfer of primary school teachers who have approached the court. The court also directed that the interim protection shall be available to the petitioners of all the connected other writ petitions. Justice Shree Prakash Singh passed the order in response to a petition filed by Sangeeta Pal and 28 other primary school teachers of Barabanki and petitions connected to it. The petitioners challenged a government order dated November 14, 2025, issued by the basic education department for intra-district adjustment/transfer of basic teachers in different primary schools of UP. For the petitioners, senior advocate HGS Parihar submitted that the said GO was in violation of the RTE Act and rules under UP Basic Education Act,1981. On the other hand, the state government was represented by the additional advocate-general Anuj Kudesiya.In this matter, the state filed its reply and the petitioners' counsel also filed his rejoinder affidavit in response to the reply of the state government.
