Lucknow, Nov. 8 -- The court of additional chief judicial magistrate on Friday absolved former minister and senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan of all charges in an old defamation case. Alok Varma, additional chief judicial magistrate, passed the order on Friday. Azam Khan was present in court when the judge pronounced the order. A case was filed against Azam Khan at the Hazratganj police station in Lucknow on February 1, 2019. In the FIR it was alleged that while holding the ministerial position, Azam Khan misused his official letterhead and official seal to defame the RSS. This case dates back to 2014 when the Samajwadi Party was in power in the state and Akhilesh Yadav was chief minister. The FIR was lodged by social activist Allama Zameer Naqvi. In the FIR, he pointed out that six letters issued on Azam Khan's letterhead in 2014 contained derogatory remarks against the RSS, as well as Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad and his personal secretary Imran Naqvi. The complainant also alleged that the then-chairman of the Shia Waqf Board, Waseem Rizvi, was also involved in this conspiracy to defame the RSS. Meanwhile, Azam Khan said the court has delivered a just (justice) decision and that there is still hope from the judiciary. There are hundreds of cases against me, my son Abdullah, my wife, my brother, and my deceased mother. I would have to ask my lawyer to know the exact number, said Khan.HTC...
