LUCKNOW, July 12 -- Joint director of Lucknow's HK Infravision Company Madan Ram, wanted in a land scam in which soldiers and civilians were allegedly defrauded of crores of rupees under the pretext of plot sale offers, has been arrested from Ballia, police said on Friday. Nineteen accounts of the company have been frozen, they added. According to police, the company operated under the name Kanha Upvan Valley, offering land deals to soldiers and the general public. Despite receiving payments, the company failed to hand over possession of the plots for several years. According to Mohanlalganj ACP Rajneesh Verma, the police have seized the company-owned luxury cars and SUVs bought using the ill-gotten money. "The police have also frozen 19 bank accounts linked to the company, containing Rs 15 lakh. The police are now on the lookout for the absconding director, Vinod Upadhyay," the ACP said. Nineteen victims had lodged a complaint at the Mohanlalganj police station, leading to the registration of a case of fraud against the company's directors. About a month ago, the police had arrested Pramod Upadhyay, a director of the company, and sent him to jail. During interrogation, Madan Ram revealed that Pramod and Vinod Upadhyay were from his village and both lured him into joining the company by promising him high salary and perks besides a huge share in profits....
