Accused in car hijacking, loot killed in police encounter
AGRA, Aug. 2 -- An accused involved in the July 29 car hijacking and silver loot on the Agra-Mathura road died on Friday after being injured in a police encounter. His associate, who was also injured, is undergoing treatment in Mathura. Four other accused are absconding and are currently being searched for.
Rajeev Sumar Singh, additional superintendent of police (ASP) Mathura City, said that two of the accused, identified as Neeraj and Rahul alias Padam, were injured in the police encounter. Neeraj was referred to Agra for better treatment but was declared dead by doctors, he added.
"Police have recovered a total of 82.2 kilograms of silver, which was looted from the traders on the night of July 29. The car used by the criminals has also been recovered," stated ASP Singh.
The incident occurred on the night of July 29, when a trader from Mathura was returning from Agra with 82.2 kilogram of silver.
The trader's car was intercepted on the Agra-Delhi highway near the Agra- Mathura border. The driver was forcibly pulled out, and the car was hijacked and taken to a remote location where the silver was looted.
A case was registered at Farah police station in Mathura.Police teams were sent to Agra and Aligarh, along with a vigorous search operation in Mathura, which resulted in an early morning encounter on Friday along the Gwalior bypass in Mathura. The two accused, Neeraj and Rahul alias Padam were injured in crossfire and arrested. Neeraj (25) later died during treatment in Agra, police said.
Four of the accused - Braj Mohan Raipuria, Luv Baghel, Bhola alias Rajkumar, and KP alias Kendra Pal - are absconding and currently being searched for, the ASP added....
