Absconding rape accused arrested at Prayagraj Jn
Prayagraj, Dec. 15 -- The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested Jitendra alias Jeetu, a resident of Ballia, wanted in a rape and POCSO Act case in Gujarat, at Prayagraj Junction on Sunday. He had been evading arrest for three years.
An FIR was registered against him in Ahmedabad in 2022 for rape, molestation, kidnapping, and violations of the POCSO Act. He allegedly lured and sexually assaulted a minor girl while working in Ahmedabad.
Recently, Gujarat Police learned he was attempting to flee to Bihar via the Ajmer-Sealdah Express and alerted Prayagraj GRP. Jitendra was intercepted upon the train's arrival and admitted to hiding in Gujarat since the incident.
A two-year-old girl in Gopsahsa village under Kaushambi police station died after falling from the stairs of her elevated house onto the road and being run over by a passing loader truck on Sunday morning.
Ram Singh, the child's father, said the girl slipped while playing on the platform in front of the house. Police have seized the truck and are searching for the driver, who fled the scene....
