New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday granted a four-week interim protection to journalist Abhisar Sharma in connection with a case against him by Assam Police over a video post allegedly criticising the state's policy. "We are not inclined to entertain the challenge to the FIR. We grant interim protection of four weeks to the petitioner to enable him to approach the high court," a bench of justices MM Sundresh and Kotiswar Singh said, adding, "We will protect you, but why are you bypassing the high court." Sharma challenged the FIR against him objecting to a post on his YouTube channel where he allegedly questioned the wisdom of the state government in allotting 3,000 bighas of tribal land to a private entity for setting up a cement factory. htc...
