Abandoned century-old house collapses in Rakabganj
LUCKNOW, Sept. 8 -- An over-a-century-old abandoned house collapsed in Rakabganj on Sunday, blocking a narrow lane and trapping a two-wheeler under the rubble.
Corporator Rajeev Bajpai, who first reached the site, narrowly avoided being hit. "I had passed by barely five minutes before it fell. The building was old and deserted," he said.
Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) executive engineer Sanjeev Pradhan said repeated notices had been issued to the owner, but no action was taken. "The house is around 150 years old. Demolition was never carried out despite warnings," he noted.
Pradhan added that multiple ownership changes, three in total, complicated the identification of the current owner. "Once confirmed, action will be taken against the person responsible for negligence," he said....
