India, July 1 -- Aamir Khan recently opened up about how personal hardships deepened his bonds with actor Salman Khan. He shared that during a dark phase in his life, Salman became an unexpected source of support. "After my separation from Reena (Dutta), I was emotionally broken. I would drink a lot and shut myself off from people. One evening, Salman just dropped by for dinner. I don't even remember how it happened, but we ended up talking for hours. That night marked the beginning of our real friendship," the 60-year-old told The Lallantop. Their relationship wasn't always this warm. Their first film together, the cult classic Andaz Apna Apna (1994), was marked by tension. "Salman would often arrive late, and I found it frustrating. At the time, I thought we could never be friends. But years later, I had changed. I'd learnt that everyone has flaws. We all make mistakes. That realisation helped me become less judgemental."
