86 booked for 'fake appointment' of 42 school teachers in Mau
VARANASI, Aug. 9 -- Mau police have booked 86 people, including 42 teachers, for alleged fake appointment of 42 teachers in government-aided schools run by the social welfare department of the state. The action follows an inquiry that confirmed the forgery, officials said Friday.
Officials said a complaint about irregularities in appointment of teachers at aided schools had led to the probe, which found that 42 teachers had submitted fake documents and obtained jobs with the help of some school managers and certain officials of the basic education department.
District social welfare officer Rashmi lodged an FIR against 86 people, including 42 teachers, 20 school managers, three former district social welfare officers, three supervisors, some former education department officials besides 14 unidentified others.
Mau superintendent of police Elamaran G said the accused teachers are posted at different schools across Mau. The fraud first came to light in 2018 during an investigation ordered by the then district magistrate, following a complaint by the Assurance Committee.
Police said further investigation is ongoing....
