829 women found positive with 'possible breast cancer' in Varanasi
VARANASI, Oct. 1 -- As many as 829 women were detected positive with 'possible breast cancer' during preliminary health screening conducted in a mega health camp organised in Varanasi on Monday. They were referred to higher medical institutes for advanced diagnosis and treatment.
The health screening was done at 643 locations including district hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres, urban health centres, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and health sub-centres in the district.
MLA, Rohania, Dr Sunil Patel inaugurated the mega health camp at community health centre, Misirpur. The camp was organised under Mission Shakti phase 5.
As many as 1,12,622 women underwent breast cancer screening by the expert doctors. Among them, 829 women were detected as positive in preliminary screening for 'possible breast cancer' and they were referred to higher medical institutes for advanced diagnosis and treatment, said chief development officer, Varanasi, Himanshu Nagpal.
He added that the initiative also covered non-communicable diseases, TB testing, and preventive healthcare services for women.
He said the campaign saw inter-departmental collaboration, with active support from ICDS, Education, NRLM, Panchayati Raj, and Rural Development departments....
