8.1% names out before adjudication, 11.6% after
New Delhi, April 8 -- Data released by the ECI on the adjudication process in West Bengal for six million electors shows that the overall deletions in the state now stand at 11.6% of the pre-SIR roll compared to 8.1% before the adjudication process. The state is now ranked third by deletions among nine major states compared to fourth before adjudication. HT's analysis of district-wise data shows that the deletions are now less correlated with urban population share of districts than before the adjudication process. Moreover, the deletions in adjudication have a strong correlation with the Muslim population share of districts, a trend that had not been seen yet in the SIR exercise either in West Bengal or in other states.
