LUCKNOW, Jan. 15 -- An eight-year-old boy suffered severe burn injuries after coming in contact with a low-height transformer installed in a residential area of Sainik Vihar Colony here. The incident on January 11, 2026, left the child battling for life at the King George's Medical University (KGMU). According to locals, the transformer was installed dangerously close to the ground and lacked protective fencing. The child, Arpit Pal, who was playing near his house, accidentally touched the transformer and received a high-voltage electric shock. His father, Rakesh Pal, a daily-wager, said the family was struggling to arrange treatment. Doctors at PGI Trauma Centre reportedly cited the absence of a relevant department and referred the patient further. He was finally admitted to KGMU. Two days after the incident, department workers installed a protective mesh around the transformer. The area executive engineer Shravan Kumar said he had been informed about the incident and would look into how the incident took place.HTC...
