Meerut, May 26 -- In a significant verdict delivered after eight years of legal proceedings, a local court in Budaun district sentenced three men-including two brothers-to life imprisonment in connection with the brutal 2016 murder of a villager. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.42,000 on each of the convicts. According to Additional District Government Counsel (ADGC) Rajesh Babu Sharma, the case stems from a deadly assault that took place on May 22, 2016, in Hamupur village under the jurisdiction of Ughaiti police station. Nemvati, the widow of the victim, had lodged a police complaint on the day of the incident. She stated that her husband, Rajveer-son of Horilal-was attacked by a group of men due to an ongoing enmity. The accused, identified as Udayveer and Ranveer (sons of Natthu), Munni, Morpal (son of Ramveer), Veeresh (son of Ramprasad), and Surendra (son of Ramdas), allegedly stormed Rajveer's home and assaulted him with sticks and batons. When Rajveer's younger brother, Satyaveer, attempted to intervene, he was also injured in the attack. The assailants fled the scene upon seeing villagers rushing to the spot. Rajveer was seriously injured and later succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The local police registered a case and following the investigation, a chargesheet was filed in court. After hearing arguments and examining evidence, the court on Saturday found three of the accused-Udayveer, Ranveer, and Morpal-guilty of murder under Sections of the Indian Penal Code....
