761 temporary firecracker shops allowed in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 18 -- A total of 761 temporary shops will be set up across Prayagraj district for the sale of firecrackers this Diwali. These include 21 wholesale vendors. The shops have been given permission to operate for three days - from October 18 to 20 .
According to chief fire officer (CFO) CM Sharma, around 800 shops are expected in total, with permissions still being processed for the remaining applications. To ensure safety, the administration has chosen 41 places across the district where these shops can operate.
Out of the 761 shops approved so far, 338 are in the city zone of Commissionerate Prayagraj, 283 in the Ganganagar zone, and 140 in the Yamunanagar zone.
Each shop must have proper fire safety arrangements, including fire extinguishers, buckets of sand, and water. Fire brigade vehicles will be placed at major intersections and sensitive areas on Dhanteras and Diwali to respond quickly in case of any emergency.
Officials are also running a special drive against the illegal storage and sale of firecrackers. In Prayagraj city, the shops will be located at several grounds and school campuses, such as Radharaman Inter College in Daraganj, Balu Mandi in Teliyarganj, Northern Regional Institute of Printing Technology in Shivkuti, DAV Inter College in Attarsuiya, Colonelganj Inter College, and Dr Kailashnath Katju Inter College in Kydganj.
Other locations include Sadar Bazaar Playground in the Cantonment area, Lukerganj Ground in Khuldabad, Mundera Mandi Campus in Dhoomanganj, and Women's Polytechnic College Ground in Civil Lines. Shops will also be set up at Anglo Bengali Inter College in Civil Lines, in front of Central Academy School in Jhunsi, Trivenipuram Ground, Ramlila Ground in Jhunsi, and Ramlila Park in Allahpur, among others....
