VARANASI, Nov. 7 -- Around 700 sanitation workers worked through the night to clear nearly 200 tonnes of waste, including flower garlands and other debris, from all 88 ghats in Varanasi. During the drive, around 200 tonnes of garbage were cleared using 40 hopper vehicles and boats. Municipal commissioner Himanshu Nagpal said cleanliness is an essential part of devotion, and keeping the ghats clean after Dev Deepawali is the VNN's top priority.
