700 farmers attend Kisan Diwas in Vns
VARANASI, Dec. 24 -- : More than 700 farmers participated in Kisan Diwas (Farmers' Day) celebrations organised at Krishi Bhawan to mark the birth anniversary of former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. The programme was held under the chairmanship of district magistrate Satyendra Kumar.
District panchayat chairperson Poonam Maurya attended the event as the chief guest. Farmers from across the district, along with officials from agriculture and allied departments, including fisheries, horticulture, sericulture and animal husbandry, and representatives from all development blocks, took part in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Poonam Maurya said farmers could increase their income by adopting agricultural diversification. She described farmers as not only food providers but also nation builders, and stressed the need to ensure timely facilities and support for them. DM Satyendra Kumar urged farmers to adopt crop rotation and modern practices, stating that treating agriculture as an industry was key to achieving success.
During the programme, the Animal Husbandry Department shared detailed information on Lumpy Skin Disease and explained the vaccination process.
In the technical session, agricultural scientist Prakash Singh from Krishi Vigyan Kendra and scientist Vipin Kumar from IRRI advised farmers to adopt organic and natural farming methods. Certificates were presented to 26 progressive farmers for outstanding work in agriculture and allied sectors....
