VARANASI:, May 4 -- To improve healthcare in rural area, 69 new health sub-centres are set to be opened across various villages in Varanasi district. District magistrate Satyendra Kumar issued the directive during the monthly review meeting of the district health committee governing body, held at the collectorate auditorium on Saturday. He instructed all block development officers and in-charge medical officers to jointly identify suitable government buildings in the selected gram sabhas for setting up these sub-centres. In cases where government buildings are unavailable, rented spaces may be considered. The district magistrate also stressed the timely and full payment of ASHA workers, ordering warnings to be issued to blocks where disbursements remain significantly low. Kumar also asked officials to ensure that all services and schemes under national health mission are effectively delivered to the public.
