62-year-old dies after being run over by auto in Kaushambi
PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 3 -- A 62-year-old man was killed after being run over by an auto-rickshaw during a minor dispute at Tilhapur Mod market under Pipri police station in Kaushambi on Tuesday afternoon. The victim, Maniram Verma, a resident of Tilhapur Mod market, worked as a clerk for a lawyer at the Allahabad High Court.
According to reports, Maniram had purchased four plastic chairs from Prayagraj and was loading them onto an auto-rickshaw while his wife, Anita, followed on their moped. Witnesses said one of the chair legs broke while being unloaded, prompting a disagreement over compensation between Maniram and the auto driver.
The argument escalated, and the driver tried to flee. Maniram attempted to stop the vehicle but fell beneath it when it jerked suddenly, and the wheel ran over him, killing him instantly. Police quickly tracked down the fleeing driver in Chayal town and seized the vehicle....
