60-year-old woman found murdered
Kanpur, April 24 -- A 60-year-old woman was found brutally murdered inside her home in Kalyanpur's Avas Vikas colony on Thursday afternoon while her husband had stepped out briefly to buy medicines barely 800 metres away.
Usha Singh was found lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit. The almirahs had been forced open, the house was ransacked, and valuables were missing.
Her husband, Harendra Kumar Singh, who retired on March 31 from Bharatiya Vidyalaya Inter College in Acharya Nagar, told police he had latched the gate before leaving. When he returned about half an hour later, the main door was open. He called out to his wife and walked in. She was lying on the floor, he said. The couple lived alone. Their two daughters are married and their son works in Hyderabad after completing his BTech.
CCTV footage from a neighbouring house shows a young man entering at 1.16 pm and leaving around 2.10 pm. He arrived empty-handed and exited with a bag. His face was covered with a saffron coloured cloth. A woman is also seen moving in and out during this period, DCP West SM Qasim Abidi said. Police have detained three people for questioning, including the couple's domestic help and two air conditioner mechanics who had visited earlier in the day. htc...
