60 goats burnt alive as truck catches fire
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 2 -- A truck carrying around 200 goats caught fire in Balipur village on Wednesday morning, killing about 60 animals and leaving the rest badly injured. The incident occurred on the Kokhraj-Handia National Highway in Prayagraj when a short circuit in the vehicle's engine sparked the blaze, SHO of Utraon police station, Pritam Kumar Tiwari, confirmed.
Truck driver Raajdhani, a resident of Jaunpur, was transporting goats from Kanpur to Kolkata when the fire broke out near the village vegetable market. He survived by jumping from the burning truck, but many goats, loaded on the truck's double floor, could not escape.
Local residents and Dial 112 police personnel rushed to control the fire before the fire brigade arrived, around an hour later. While around 60 goats were killed, the remaining animals were rescued with the help of locals....
