LUCKNOW, Jan. 29 -- In a swift 24-hour operation, the Gosainganj police arrested six individuals for the attempted murder of a youth named Ravi. The youths had allegedly attacked Ravi with sharp-edged weapons and, believing him to be dead, dumped him in Indira Canal on Tuesday. The violence was a retaliatory strike intended to avenge a previous assault the victim had reportedly carried out against Brijesh Kumar (alias Chhotu), a known history-sheeter, said police. Ravi's father, Sunil Kumar, lodged a complaint, stating that his son was stabbed multiple times on the neck and surrounding areas with an intent to kill him. During investigation, police found that the crime was rooted in personal enmity, said ADCP (south zone) Vasant Rallapalli. "History-sheeter Brijesh Kumar alias Chhotu was earlier beaten up by Ravi, following which the former allegedly conspired with his associates to eliminate Ravi. Along with his five aides, the accused ambushed Ravi, inflicted grievous injuries, and after believing him to be dead, loaded him into an SUV and dumped him into the Indira Canal," said the officer. However, Ravi was rescued and currently undergoing treatment at the Trauma Centre of SGPGI, where his condition was stated to be serious but stable. The ADCP added that based on evidence, Gosainganj police arrested all six accused. The arrested persons were identified as Ajit Kumar, 20, resident of Chaurasi, Sushant Golf City; Brijesh Kumar alias Chhotu, 21, resident of Deitikhar, Gosainganj; Ram Singh, 27, of Malauli, Gosainaganj; Saurabh Verma, 23, resident of Malaulim; Vishal Yadav, 20, resident of Malauli and Prashant Yadav, 19, of Malauli. The vehicle used in the crime was also recovered. The accused were booked under sections 109(1) (attempt to murder), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 118(1) (causing hurt), and other sections of the BNS. Police said Brijesh Kumar is a history-sheeter with cases registered against him under sections related to assault and criminal intimidation. Other accused, including Ram Singh and Saurabh Verma, also have multiple criminal cases against them. htc...
