GORAKHPUR, July 21 -- Six new members were unanimously elected to the executive committee in the 14th meeting of Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation (GMC) held on Sunday. Five of them are from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while one represents the Samajwadi Party. The meeting was chaired by mayor Dr Manglesh Srivastava. During the session, board members expressed satisfaction over Gorakhpur's progress in the Swachh Survekshan rankings. The board also approved the proceedings of the 12th and 13th meetings of the corporation. The newly-elected members include Hanumant Rao, Meera Yadav, Poonam Singh, Ramgati, and Ashok Kumar from the BJP, and Ziaul Islam from the Samajwadi Party. However, BJP corporator Devendra 'Pintu' Gour raised objections regarding the selection process of the party's candidates for the working committee and boycotted the meeting....
