6 held for bid to incite violence over viral video
LUCKNOW, Aug. 1 -- In a preventive action, Bijnor police on Thursday arrested six men for allegedly attempting to incite violence during an investigation into a viral video that showed a man tied up and beaten in Shahpur under Mahigawan police station limits.
According to an official statement, the video surfaced on Wednesday (July 30), prompting the registration of an FIR under sections 127(2) and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
When a police team reached the village on Thursday to probe the incident, a crowd gathered at the spot and began raising slogans. Despite repeated attempts to pacify them, the situation turned hostile, the statement said. Additional force was deployed from Bijnor police station and six individuals were detained to prevent a breach of peace. They were arrested under Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and produced in court the same day, officials added.
The Barabanki police on Wednesday arrested a man for the murder of woman constable Vimlesh Pal, whose body was discovered in a field near village Bindoura under Masouli police station on July 30. The accused, Indresh Maurya, who was also her husband, was arrested by a joint police team, and the iron rod used in the murder, the car used in the crime, and the victim's purse were recovered from him. IG Ayodhya Zone Praveen Kumar said police arrested Indresh Maurya near Bhayara Road in Barabanki. "From his possession, they recovered the murder weapon (an iron rod), Vimlesh's purse containing ID cards, and Rs.3,505 in cash, and the car used in the crime," he added....
