Haldwani/Pithoragrah/Rudrapur, June 26 -- At least six people were killed and four others severely injured in rain related incidents in Uttarakhand on Wednesday, police said. Four members of a family, including a newborn child, died after their car fell into a canal near Rampur Road in Haldwani city in Nainital district when they were returning home to Kichha town after the birth of the child at Sushila Tiwari Hospital on June 22, Haldwani superintendent of police (SP) Prakash Chandra said, adding that three others were injured. He said the car went out of control due to waterlogging and fell into the canal. Police identified the deceased as Rakesh Kumar (32), Neetu (36), Kamla Devi (50), and an infant, and the injured as Ramesh (42), Rama Devi (28) and Shyam Lal (45). In Pithoragarh, one person, identified as Ajit Pal, died and another, identified as Dinesh Chandra, was severely injured after a car skidded off the road and plunged into the Gori River near Balmara on Jauljibi-Munsiyari route, police said.
