6 arrested for abducting and trafficking child
Haridwar, Oct. 15 -- Haridwar police have arrested six people, including a married couple, for allegedly kidnapping a three-month-old infant from Piran Kaliyar and trafficking the child for Rs.4.90 lakh. Senior police officers confirmed the arrests on Tuesday, adding that the case was cracked within three days of the abduction.
Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pramendra Dobhal said in Roorkee that the incident occurred on the intervening night of October 10-11, when the infant was abducted from the vicinity of the Sabir Pak dargah in Piran Kaliyar.
He said a case was registered on October 11 at the Kaliyar police station following a complaint by Jaheer Ansari, a resident of Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. Ansari stated that his three-month-old son was kidnapped while the family was on a pilgrimage to the dargah....
