LUCKNOW, April 23 -- The Mahanagar Police in Lucknow arrested a 56-year-old man on Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl in the area. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim's mother against the accused on Tuesday, police said. The accused, Chedi Lal, was arrested near Soumitra Van, Akbar Nagar Bandha. "The arrested individual has been identified as Chedi Lal, son of Kanhaiya, a resident of Akbar Nagar Bandha, Mahanagar, Lucknow," said SHO Mahanagar Akhilesh Mishra. According to the police press note, the accused allegedly lured the complainant's 5-year-old daughter onto his scooter and took her to a secluded ironing shop located in the alley behind Tikonia Park. Following the complaint received on April 21, 2026, an FIR was registered at the Mahanagar police station.
