500 youth delegates to join spiritual summit in Varanasi
VARANASI, July 19 -- At least 500 youth delegates from around 100 spiritual and socio-cultural organisations from across the country will take part in a two-day 'Spiritual Summit' on the theme 'Nasha Mukt Yuwa for Viksit Bharat', in Varanasi beginning Saturday. The summit aims to foster a collective national resolve against drug abuse, rooted in India's spiritual heritage and youth power.
"The government of India, in partnership with NGOs, educational institutions, and spiritual organisations, is launching a holistic, inclusive, and future-oriented anti drug campaign.
This summit will pave the way for a massive grassroots movement -- Jan Andolan -- to identify drug sources, eradicate them at the root, and build a drug free India," Union minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said.
A concrete strategy and roadmap in the direction of a drug-free India will be prepared in the summit.
The roadmap and the adoption of 'Kashi Declaration' will be unveiled in the concluding session on July 20.
The summit, organised by the ministry of youth affairs and sports, will have four sessions.
The inaugural session will see discussions on understanding the addiction, its nature and sorts and the demographics of youth victims.
In the second session, discussions will be held on drug peddler network, access to drugs, international influence, business interests of tobacco companies and other commercial entities, according to a press release.
The third session will focus on the role of youths, government and MY Bharat in campaigning and outreach on social media, and on-ground campaign.
Eminent citizens, including doctors, chambers of commerce, teachers and respected members from civil society, will participate in the last session. Members from civil institutions will promote dialogue and harmony....
