PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 5 -- Sangam ghats will glow with 5.3 lakh earthen lamps or to mark the grand celebration of Dev Deepawali on Wednesday evening. The district administration has completed all preparations for the event, which coincides this year with the auspicious 'Shiv Vaas' and 'Bhadra Vaas' 'yog'. According to Vedic scholar Braj Mohan Pandey of Swami Narottmanand Giri Vedic School, Jhunsi, the auspicious time for worship and lamp offering (Deepdan) is from 5.15 pm to 7.18 pm (Pradosh Kaal). The administration has divided the celebration area into 15 blocks, stretching from the VIP Ghat to the Ganga Aarti site and other nearby ghats near Sangam. The entire stretch will be decorated with rows of lamps, artistic light patterns, and sand art installations. The evening will feature a laser show, cultural performances, and fireworks, adding to the festive charm, said officials. On Tuesday, district magistrate Manish Verma, along with senior officials, inspected the preparations at Sangam, Balua Ghat, and Gau Ghat. He directed concerned departments to ensure proper arrangements for mobile toilets, drinking water, and traffic management.
