5 assam rifles officers injured in ambush along Myanmar border
Imphal, Nov. 29 -- Five Assam Rifles personnel were injured in an ambush along the India-Myanmar border in Manipur's Tengnoupal, people aware of the matter said on Friday.
The people said the attackers, who may have crossed from Myanmar, attacked a security post of the Assam Rifles near border pillar number 87 with gunfire and bombs. Militant outfits often take advantage of the porous border and use the jungle on the Myanmar side as their base. "The firing was immediately retaliated to with control and caution, keeping civilian safety. It went on for over half an hour. The operations are currently underway," an official aware of the matter said. One of the injured jawans was under treatment.htc...
