5,000 taxis, 500 buses to be made available for char dham Yatra
Haridwar, April 6 -- With less than three weeks left for the annual Char Dham Yatra to begin, district administrations in Uttarakhand have started giving final touches to preparations for the pilgrimage season.
In Pauri Garhwal district alone, authorities are arranging around 500 buses and nearly 5,000 taxis and jeeps to facilitate transportation of pilgrims travelling to the Char Dham shrines, officials said.
District administration officials said the process of issuing green cards for commercial vehicles heading towards the Char Dham shrines has already begun in the district.
Officials said these green cards are mandatory for commercial vehicles operating during the yatra season and are issued after verifying vehicle fitness, driver credentials and other safety requirements.
Swati S Bhadauriya, district magistrate of Pauri Garhwal, said the administration is making extensive arrangements to ensure smooth management of the pilgrimage. "A yatra control room is being set up to function round the clock during the Char Dham Yatra season. Arrangements of 500 buses and 5,000 taxi and maxi vehicles have been made for this year's pilgrimage season," Bhadauriya said. She added that health facilities are also being strengthened along the yatra route. According to the district magistrate, health units are being established at Lakshman Jhula, the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple area, Bhatisera and Kaliyasaud....
