VARANASI, Dec. 12 -- A 45-year-old woman was murdered by unidentified attackers inside her home in Lakshmanpur, under the Shivpur police station area of Varanasi, while she was alone in the house on Thursday, said police. The deceased has been identified as Anupama alias Sita (45). She had been attacked with both a sharp weapon and a heavy object, and a cloth had been stuffed into her mouth, they added. According to family members, Anupama was preparing breakfast in the morning, while her husband, Shailesh, was out delivering milk. When he returned, he found her lying in a pool of blood on the floor of their room, after which he ran outside, crying for help. Hearing his cries, local residents rushed to the house and alerted the Shivpur police. The cops soon arrived and began their investigation. According to reports, the woman had been married for 15 years and had no children. Family members also said she was four months pregnant at the time of her death. The body has been sent for the post mortem, police added.
