40 kids rescued after school bus falls into ditch
PRAYAGRAJ, May 11 -- A school bus carrying 40 children fell into a roadside ditch on Saturday morning in Pratapgarh district's Antu police station area, triggering panic but causing no injuries. The incident occurred near Lohangpur village when the bus failed to move up an elevated section of the Biharganj Lohangpur-Sukhpal Nagar bypass.
According to initial reports, the private school bus was enroute from Kakraha and Biharganj Bazaar to a school located in Teunga under Dehat Kotwali.
Antu police station in-charge Anand Pal Singh confirmed the incident and said, "No written complaint has been received from any parent so far."
Local residents and passersby quickly responded, pulling the children out one by one. The swift action prevented any injuries, though the students were visibly shaken.
Parents rushed to the scene after receiving news of the accident. They expressed relief that their children were safe but voiced concern over the bus driver's conduct.
Some accused him of negligent driving and demanded appropriate action....
