LUCKNOW, Nov. 29 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has finalised around 40 acres of land in the Vasant Kunj Scheme for the depot of the upcoming Lucknow Metro East-West Corridor, a key step for the project. The authority will soon complete formalities and submit the land details to the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC). According to an LDA senior official, UPMRC had requested land on Hardoi Road on August 13, for constructing the East-West Corridor depot. LDA conducted a detailed survey and measurement in the Vasant Kunj Scheme and identified suitable land in the southern part of Sector A. Officials said the land is along 60-metre and 30-metre-wide roads and includes the existing fish market area. The Metro depot will be developed here to support operations of the new corridor. LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar said the authority prioritised protecting allottees' interests. In sector A, 272 plots have been allotted through a lottery, and these plots have been completely excluded from the depot site. He confirmed that allottees' land remains safe and that LDA will soon hand over possession of their plots. With the land now identified, the East-West Corridor project moves closer to execution.
