4 people arrested in two encounters
Agra, June 1 -- Four people were arrested in two encounters that took place overnight in Agra district. In one encounter, Rakabganj police arrested a man carrying prohibited cow meat. The man had a criminal past with 29 cases against him.
In another encounter with Jagdishpura police, three accused were arrested including two who were injured in the encounter. ACP, Sadar Circle, Sukanya Sharma, said that during routine checking at Baluganj crossing of Agra city on Friday night, two men on a speeding two-wheeler turned course on seeing the police. "Those on the two-wheeler were asked to stop but one of them fired on the police team instead. The man who opened fire was injured in the leg in retaliatory police firing. He was hospitalised while his accomplice managed to escape," stated Sukanya Sharma. "The man injured and arrested was identified as Imran aka Babua aka Babu aka Farooq resident of Shaheed Nagar in Agra," said Sharma. "A veterinary doctor was called in and handed over a sample of meat for testing. A case was registered in this regard at Rakabganj police station under section 109(1)/61(2) BNS for attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy beside Section 3/25/27 of Arms Act and relevant provision of Protection of Cow Slaughter Act," the ACP Sadar said.
In another matter, police at Jagdishpura police station of Agra came to know about a dispute and violent clash between two groups in Awas Vikas Colony area of Agra on Thursday. Members of both groups opened fire before moving away and this created panic. Police reached the spot and assured locals and the force was deployed. A case was registered at Jagdishpura police station in this regard.
Police teams were constituted for the arrest of the accused involved and during routine checking on Friday night, three accused were traced moving on a motorcycle, stated ACP Loha Mandi Circle, Mayank Tiwari.
"The two injured and arrested were identified as Rahul aka Feddy and Dilip, while a third accused escaped but was identified as Nitin Goswami. Police chased Nitin and arrested him later," he added. "On interrogation, it was revealed that firing and violence on Thursday took place between the gang of those arrested and that of Deepak Tripathi," Tiwari said....
