4 officials of Haridwar civic body booked for land deal 'irregularity'
Dehradun, May 3 -- The Uttarakhand government has suspended four officials in connection with irregularities in a land purchase deal under the Haridwar Municipal Corporation. The action on Thursday evening follows chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's directive for strict measures against those found guilty in the case, officials aware of the matter said.
The suspended officials are Ravindra Kumar Dayal, assistant municipal commissioner in charge); Anand Singh Mishravan, assistant engineer; Laxmikant Bhatt, tax and revenue superintendent; and Dinesh Chandra Kandpal, junior engineer-all serving under the Haridwar Municipal Corporation.
According to the investigation, they failed to properly discharge their duties as members of the committee responsible for the land purchase in the Sarai area.
An official statement said disciplinary action has also been recommended against Ved Pal, a retired clerk who was working on an extended service term. His service extension has been terminated. Additionally, an explanation has been sought from Nikita Bisht, senior finance officer regarding her role in the matter.
The findings emerged from a detailed investigation led by Ranveer Singh Chauhan, secretary of the sugarcane department, who had been appointed as the inquiry officer.
His probe, based on a report submitted by the Haridwar municipal commissioner, found prima facie evidence of serious procedural lapses in the land transaction....
