4 held in Kolkata for Patna hospital murder
PATNA, July 21 -- Patna police said on Sunday that it has arrested the prime accused and his three associates for the murder of gangster Chandan Mishra inside a private hospital in Patna on July 17, and is waiting for transit remand from a court in Kolkata, where they were apprehended.
Addressing a press conference, Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma said that the four arrested accused were identified as lead shooter Tauseef Raza alias Badshah, his cousin, Nishu Khan, and their associates Harsh Kumar and Bhim (goes by single name). They were arrested on Saturday.
"We are waiting for the arrival of Tauseef and the three others, after which we shall immediately launch probes into the case and ensure justice," the SSP added.
All the four accused were arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, he said.
Sharma said that after Mishra's murder, the shooters escaped to different places. "We raided several places and interrogated several people. In the course of investigation, police cornered Tauseef and arrested him in Kolkata. Kolkata Police and its Special Task Force (STF) formed a team and provided all support to the Patna Police in arresting the accused," he added.
The SSP said that preliminary investigation revealed that the murder conspiracy was hatched at the house of Nishu Khan, where all the shooters assembled. "Two other people, Harsh Kumar and Bhim, were also there and they helped the shooters in escaping after the incident."
The SSP said that so far nine accused have been identified in this case. "Some more accused are likely to be involved in the case for supplying arms and doing recce of the hospital. We are also investigating the hospital's role as to why its security staff did not stop them," the SSP said....
